Keuka College Provost Dr. Brad Fuster discussed higher education and the pandemic last weekend at the prestigious Council for Independent Colleges (CIC) 2021 Institute for Chief Academic Officers.

Dr. Fuster was a panelist for the session, “College After COVID: Managing Demographic Trends.”

“I’m eager to talk with other Chief Academic Officers about the impacts of COVID we experienced at Keuka College,” he said prior to the conference, “as I’m confident that similar scenarios have played out at other independent colleges across the country.”

The three-day conference, held Nov. 5-7 in Louisville, Kentucky, is the largest gathering of chief academic officers in the United States. The conference’s sessions are accepted by invitation only, making Dr. Fuster’s participation a particular honor.

In discussing effective practices for using the challenges of the last two years to chart new recruiting and enrollment directions post-pandemic, Dr. Fuster was joined by a pair of panelists including Dr. Nathan D. Grawe, Ada M. Harrison Distinguished Teaching Professor of the Social Sciences and professor of economics at Carleton College in Minnesota.

“I’m excited to prepare the sessions with Dr. Grawe, who is one of the most noted enrollment demographers in the United States,” said Dr. Fuster. “I read his newest book, ‘The Agile College.’ To be able to position the work we’re doing at Keuka College within that framework as we prepared the session has been an enjoyable and fruitful exercise for me.”
