Keuka College will host an expert on the subject of political cartoons next month.

Dr. Elaine K. Miller, a nationally renowned academic on the subject of political cartoons and their cultural implications, will present “Political Cartoons: Seriously Joking” at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the lower level of the Lightner Library. A 6 p.m. reception will follow in the library’s upper level.

A lifelong educator, Dr. Miller has devoted decades to analyzing political cartoons. She has spoken and published extensively on the subject, including video programs on cartoon portrayals of women in politics such as 1984 vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro and former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Her presentations at venues including the Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester, the Chautauqua Institute, and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass., have earned consistent praise: “It was indeed a total joy to have you as our October Luncheon-Lecture presenter,” wrote Susan B. Anthony House Director of Programs and Visitor Services Anne Williamson Callanan. “The program was fascinating.”
